Women’s Guild Minutes
The Women’s Guild met July 10 with 16 members in attendance. The program was presented by Sarah Thompson from Cox Health Fitness Centers. She explained the different programs they offer, their locations, hours open, and membership costs. The devotional was two short pieces titled “A Gift of Love” and “Attitude”. The minutes of the May and June meetings were read and the Treasurer reported a balance-on-hand of $562.39. Cards were sent to Rev. John Masters, Virginia Blumenstock, and Esther Steinhauer. Correspondence was a “Thank You” from Crosslines Friendship Circle. Today’s outreach was canned corn and green beans for Crosslines.
NEW BUSINESS: No meeting in August. The September outreach will be The Kitchen. Clo Ella Leverenz asked if the Guild might contribute to help defray expenses for David Rahmoeller when he has his kidney transplant. Jan Hale moved we give $100.00 and seconded by Rita Allen. Motion passed. The meeting was closed by praying the Lord’s Prayer. Our hostesses were Phyllis Bender and Clo Ella Leverenz. Respectfully Submitted, Esther Steinhauer, Secretary |

Endowment Fund: (Jack Gonzenbach) For the first half of 2008, the fund has received contributions of $2735 and has paid out $1500 to the congregation. 75% of this was paid into the Bain General Fund and 25% into the Bain Music fund, as specified by terms of the legacy. There will be another distribution from the Bain Legacy Endowment in October of 2008. Contributions are coming in at about the same pace as last year, but, due to the current market, distributions are down from about 5% in 2007 to 3% in 2008. Even with these reduced earnings, the Endowment Fund is still contributing a significant amount of money to the financial needs of the church.
Pastor’s Report: Pastor Becky has prepared no formal report, but offered to answer any questions from the congregation. Concerns about the location of the labyrinth as related to drainage and highway noise were brought up. Pastor Becky and Dennis Gromer addressed some of these concerns, and Pastor Becky suggested any further comments be reserved for the old business portion of the meeting.
President’s Report: Linda read a letter left by Tona since she was not able to be at the meeting. Tona listed the upcoming pastoral relations meeting, the updating of job descriptions, safe church policy review and the search for new financial software as current council projects. Two vacancies remain on council for anyone who may be interested.
Old Business: Nancy Anderson gave an update on the labyrinth progress. 50 pavers have now been ordered. Once again, concerns were addressed regarding the location and drainage for the labyrinth. A motion was made that we revisit the location of the labyrinth for the purpose of taking it out of the front and putting it in back. The motion was seconded, but did not pass. The contract with Wickmans was then discussed along with the fact that they do guarantee all work. Dennis will look into getting something in writing from them since this is such a concern. Dennis also invited anyone with concerns to meet with Chris Kristek and himself whenever a meeting is set up. Vanessa gave a sign update and presented plans for a temporary banner until the permanent sign is completed. Council will look at sign bids from |

Missouri Neon and Garage Graphics as soon as possible, in order to get this project moving, since the original bid did not work out. Clo Ella reported that plans are coming along well for the 40th Anniversary Celebration and urged all to be in attendance on August 3rd.
New Business: An organizational chart for the church was presented for approval. A large one will also be on display. Linda brought up the possibility of paying for mulch to be added to the playground. Kids First needs to have this done for licensing requirements, and it’s in our best interest as well as a church. We will see what the total cost is for Kids First and see about reimbursing a portion of that cost.
The meeting was adjourned with the praying of the Lord’s prayer by all present at 12:30 p.m. Mary Lou Datema, Secretary |
