Board of Service Ministries Meeting Minutes from July 1, 2008
The monthly meeting of the Board of Service Ministries (BOSM) was called to order by Chair Elaine Tebbenkamp at the Chapel at 7 p.m. Those attending were Pastor Becky, Clo Ella Leverenz, Johna Steinhauer, Elaine and Gary Tebbenkamp. The opening prayer was given by Elaine. Minutes of the June meeting were reviewed and approved. Johna’s treasurer’s report noted that the balance in our budgeted funds was $1,198.81. Pass-through amounts totaled $515.01 and expenses were $168.27 (reim-bursement for mission trip expenses) leaving a total balance of $1,713.92. It was requested that the financial summary be given as an itemized report. Pastor Becky’s report noted that she had spent many hours in the hospital giving support to members and friends of the Chapel. Several members, who have had recent medical situations, would appreciate and benefit from prayers. Pastor Becky noted that there were still several people interested in joining the Chapel, but a final commitment date has not been set. Focus Group Reports: Within the Evangelism Focus Group, Elaine reported that Johna would pick up the visitor pads in July. Johna will note the visitors who leave their phone number and/or address and give that information to Pastor Becky. The notebook containing this weekly information will be kept in the BOSM mailbox in the office work room. Elaine also noted that the Ready, Set, Grow evaluation meeting in Higginsville was only modestly helpful (in terms of hearing ideas from other churches). The primary positive outcome was developing an updated mission statement. The cost in time and energy to make the trip to Higginsville make future attendance unlikely. Also noted: Visitor Packets will be completed in coming weeks, Adam Cunningham will continue as the Chapel’s webmaster and the ink jets will be packed for shipping after worship this Sunday. The Membership Care report noted that the funds collected from the last Fellowship Dinner would be distributed as requested. No report from Mission/Outreach. The Publicity report noted that there will be a temporary vinyl sign for the front of the Chapel. It will be utilized until the permanent sign is ready. A brochure of available programming at the Chapel |

will be developed to include Spiritual Development, Biblical Interpretation, Grace and Weight classes and the Labyrinth. Gary is to meet with Kristy and Tona to develop this brochure and have it ready to be distributed in the surrounding neighborhoods prior to Rally Day and the Grand Opening of the Labyrinth on September 7. The brochure will include information about how to enroll in these programs. The pamphlets will be put in plastic bags and delivered by members of the Youth FROG’S. The 40th anniversary celebration of the Chapel will be August 3, 2008. The next meeting is scheduled for August 5, at 7:00 PM. The meeting concluded at 7:50 p.m. with the Lord’s Prayer.
