Board of Christian Education: (Tona Griggs)  Liz Stafford has agreed to be a youth  group  co-sponsor.

VBS curriculum has arrived and VBS is scheduled for August 4-7. Teachers and helpers are needed. No summer Sunday School is planned but children will have their session during church services beginning June 1 .During the next meeting, closets will be cleaned out in conjunction with Kids First.

 

Worship and Music (Rita Allen) no report

 

Library: no report

 

Grounds: The roof has been repaired. We are waiting for the bill to follow.

 

Stewardship: (Dennis Gromer) Dennis is working to draft a letter to be sent to all who have made pledges. Pledged giving appears to be up since February.

 

Department of Spirituality: (Nancy Anderson) no formal report, but the paver display will continue to be available in the narthex. It was decided by council that any questions that come up about the labyrinth should be passed along to this committee.

 

Visioning: (Nancy Anderson) no report. The mission trip has been completed.

 

Pastor’s Report: Pastor Becky suggested that groundbreaking for the labyrinth be moved to June 1. Work has been held up due to the wet weather. The initial date of April 20 was not used as a free Sunday since Pastor Becky was still on the mission trip at that time.

Laura has requested to take off May 19 and Eleanor Berger has agreed to substitute for pay. Council voted to approve the absence and to approve pay for Eleanor.

It was reported that on May 18 all UCC pastors are being asked to preach on the subject of sacred conversations in “beloved communities.” This may spur further discussion and conversation among local congregations.

Pastor Becky reports 7 potential new members at this time.

 

Old Business: Clo Ella gave an update on the 40th anniversary celebration. It was decided we will need to move everything out of the Fellowship Hall about a week before the celebration.

Tona presented a draft of an organizational flow chart for the church. She will revise it and present it for review again next month.

A pastoral relations meeting has not been scheduled yet.

Linda is still working on updating job descriptions.

Sexual misconduct procedures are still being reviewed.

Budgeted vs. actual giving is still being monitored. A comparison will be presented to the congregation at the semi-annual meeting in July. The date for that has been set as July 20.

Pastor Becky is still working with Jason on artwork for the new sign.

 

New business: Dennis Gromer has requested consideration be made for some mileage reimbursement for Judith Bartell to assist with costs incurred for her frequent trips to
